Airbrushed skin, tossed hair, bright and wide eyes, long lashes…all features of the lady sitting across the restaurant; as if she’d hopped out of a magazine. What is it about this woman that makes her beauty seem so effortless, yet completely refined? I wonder…is there a secret family recipe for homemade skin-care, a traditional herb for hair…like what is it! What is she doing that I’m not? Are there rules to follow? Am I not doing them in order or something? What!
Trends come and go, but there are some classic beauty rules to follow:
Rule #1: Focus Feature
There’s nothing wrong with being a makeup minimalist. Choose a feature to emphasize and make it pop! Like the look of bare skin, a little mascara with bold lips. (It shows true beauty!)
Rule #2: Stay Away From The Face
Avoid touching your face. Think about the germs from many of the things you touch daily…do you really want that on your face?
Missy Lynn has arrived! I’ve been overly excited about this for a while and now I can share the good news with you all! Just in case you did not know, Missy Lynn is a Youtube beauty guru and active duty military member who collaborated with BHCosmetics to create a limited edition eyeshadow and highlighter palette.
The palette contains a built-in mirror, six eyeshadows and two highlighting powders, including warm earth-tones and rose gold for every skin tone. The eyeshadows have good pigmentation, but I’d recommend a primer before use so that it lasts longer. The highlight powers have great coverage with little flake and fall out. I would use the highlight bakes for a bronzer as well. The textures are so smooth, which I love and I would recommend a nice fluff-brush for applications.
So far, Missy Lynn has gotten great reviews and feedback. I don’t know about you, but I shop online based on reviews. Regardless of how much I want something, if the reviews are terrible I do not bother spending money.
The palette is no longer $11.95, but you can still purchase yours today! You can also achieve Missy’s nude and plum looks using your own palettes!
The weather these past few weeks have been so crazy. One day it rains, the next day it is sunny and then it’s super windy! It’s a repeating cycle each week. I never know what to expect! All I know is that it’s cold, sometimes freezing-cold! In weather like this, it’s important to give your skin the best moisturizing treatments.
Your skin can get so dry and dehydrated if its not being taken care of properly. So, I decided to share a few products that I use on alternating days, and sometimes simultaneously. I believe that I have extra-dry skin and it seems that nothing really works best, so I choose from a variety of products that work great for me.
Hopefully, you’ll enjoy these products as much as I do. All, except the Avon Moisture Therapy, can be found at your local Wal-Mart or drug store. You can also use the links below to shop online!
I also encourage you to share your beauty-skin treatments, as I’d love to hear about them!
I admire the Dove Beauty Sketch series because it brings a sense of happiness and joy to me. This experiment not only allowed these people to feel better about themselves, but it also welcomed a sense of acceptance. The little things that we all find unattractive or bothersome about ourselves are the very things that someone else sees in a different light.
Self acceptance is one of the many issues that many people face today. Whether it is trying to find courage to be out-going, the ‘right’ social circle, or even the ‘ideal’ body type we all have our own inner issues that we deal with everyday. Dove’s point of the video was to show how many women are overly critical about their appearances, instead of being more tolerant of their true beauty.
The forensic sketch artist, Gil Zamora, was able to sketch the features of the women without meeting them beforehand, or looking at them during the session. First, he drew the women based on their own self-perception and then based on the opinions of a stranger. The stranger’s descriptions were more soothing, attractive, and similar to what the women actually looked like.
I really feel that this was definitely a step up for Dove’s Beauty Campaign. An article that I read stated that the video had more than 114 million YouTube views, a month after it was released, making it the most viral ad video of all time.
You can see more of the series on the Dove YouTube Channel.
